What "online store" means here
Everything you put in your catalog can be sold two ways: rung up in person at your register, and ordered by customers from their own phone, through your public page and the Tavvi marketplace. Same items, same prices, one place to manage them. Turning the online side on takes about two minutes; the setup below decides how orders reach you and what customers can choose.
Turn it on
On the business side, open your store's home screen and go to your Online Register.
Open Online Store Settings.
Turn on Accepting online orders. That's the master switch, off means nobody can order, no matter what else is set.
Decide how orders get to customers
Under Order Types you pick what you're willing to do:
- Pickup, customers order ahead and come get it. Zero logistics, start here.
- Delivery, a courier brings it to them. Read "Offer delivery" before flipping this on; it's genuinely easy but you'll want to understand who pays what.
- Shipping, you mail it. "Offer shipping" covers labels and tracking.
Pickup alone is a completely legitimate launch. Add the other two when orders justify them.
The two settings people skip (don't)
Default Prep Time, how long you need before an order is ready. Be honest, not optimistic: customers see this as their pickup estimate, and an angry early arrival costs more than a realistic wait.
Minimum Order Amount, the smallest order you'll accept. Leave it at zero unless small orders genuinely lose you money.
Online orders follow your store hours (Online orders follow your store hours), when you're closed, ordering closes with you. If your hours aren't set yet, do "Set your hours" first or customers will see a closed store.
Prove it works
Order from yourself once. Open your own page from the customer side (the app's shopping side works fine for this), buy your cheapest item, and watch it arrive at your register as an online order. Accept it, mark it ready, then refund yourself. Five minutes, and you'll never wonder what customers experience.
If something's off
- Your store doesn't show up for customers. The master switch might be off, or your store hours say closed. Both live in the same settings sheet.
- Items are missing online. Check the item's online visibility in your catalog, an item can be register-only if it was switched off for online.
- Orders come in but nothing pings you. That's notifications, not the store, see "Never miss an online order."
