Close your day

What a batch is, the three ways to close it, including two automatic ones, and how to read the report that tells you what today was worth.

The batch, one more time

Everything you sell lands in the day's batch, the same one you opened with Open Batch in "Ring up your first sale." Closing it is the bookkeeping heartbeat: it finalizes the day's sales into a report you can read, print, and reconcile against the cash drawer.

Pick your closing style once

Under your store's settings, Batch Close Mode offers three ways to run this:

If you close by hand: closing is final for that batch, the app warns you, because after Close Batch no new sales join that day.

Online orders run their own daily batch and close themselves when your store's local day ends, nothing for you to do there.

Read your day

Batch Reports holds every closed batch. Open one and you get the day's story: totals per payment type, cash, card, and the rest, so the cash line is exactly what should be in the drawer beyond your float. Count the drawer against it while the day is fresh; a mismatch tonight is a mystery, next Tuesday it's a legend.

You can print the report to your receipt printer or export it, end-of-day slip for the binder, numbers for the accountant, same source.

The rhythm that works

  1. Last customer leaves.

  2. Close the batch (or let your auto mode do it).

  3. Open Batch Reports, glance at the totals, count cash against the cash line.

  4. Go home. That's genuinely the whole ceremony.
